Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat or your choice)
  • 2 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or your favorite melting cheese)
  • 1–2 tbsp butter, softened (or mayonnaise)

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Spatula or tongs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 370°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, spread an even layer of softened butter (or mayonnaise) on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, on a clean surface. Top with cheese slices. Close with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
  4. Carefully place the assembled sandwich into the air fryer basket. If your air fryer is small, you may need to cut the sandwich in half to fit.
  5. Air fry at 370°F (190°C) for 4 minutes.
  6. After 4 minutes, open the air fryer and use a spatula or tongs to flip the sandwich. Cook for another 3–4 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  7. Remove the sandwich from the air fryer. Let it rest for 1 minute, then slice and serve immediately.

Tips & Variations

  • For extra crispiness, increase temperature to 380°F (195°C) during the last minute.
  • Add fillings like ham, tomato slices, cooked bacon or avocado for a gourmet twist.
  • Use sourdough or artisan bread for a heartier texture.
