Black Pepper Beef Stir-Fry

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced

  • 1 onion, sliced

  • 3–4 green onions, cut into 1-inch pieces

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (divided)

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce

  • 1 tbsp freshly cracked black pepper

  • 1 tsp cornstarch

  • 1/2 tsp sugar

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

  • Cooked rice (for serving)

Step 1: Marinate the Beef
In a bowl, mix the sliced beef with cornstarch and 1 teaspoon of soy sauce. Set aside to marinate while preparing other ingredients.

Step 2: Make the Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, and freshly cracked black pepper. Stir well and set aside.

Step 3: Cook the Beef
Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for a few seconds until fragrant.
Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned and nearly cooked through.

Step 4: Add the Vegetables
Add the sliced onion and green onions. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender but still crisp.

Step 5: Add the Sauce
Pour in the prepared sauce and stir-fry until everything is evenly coated and heated through.

Step 6: Serve
Serve hot over cooked rice.
