9 signs that your feet may indicate liver problems

We often think that sore or swollen feet are simply the result of a strenuous day or ill-fitting shoes. But did you know they can also indicate a deeper imbalance? The liver, this inconspicuous but vital organ, sometimes sends signals we ignore. And these clues… often come through our feet. Surprising? Read on; perhaps this will shed some light on your thoughts.

  1. Swollen feet with no apparent cause: It is not always tiredness

If your ankles or feet    remain swollen   even without injury or prolonged standing , this may indicate liver dysfunction  . Slowed liver function can disrupt fluid distribution in the body and   lead to fluid retention in the extremities  . This symptom should not be ignored.

  1. Persistent itching under the feet

Constant  itching, especially at night? This may   indicate a buildup of waste products in the body that the liver is having difficulty excreting  . These substances can irritate the skin and   cause unpleasant, even intense, sensations  .

  1. Appearance of bruises without shock

Do you notice bruises on your feet   without remembering a bump or a wrong movement   ? This could   indicate a clotting disorder  , as   the liver produces the proteins necessary for proper blood clotting  .

  1. Unusual redness of the soles of the feet

An unusually red, almost shiny  sole of the foot may   indicate chronic liver disease  . This symptom, similar to palmar erythema, can also    be observed in the feet due to hormonal imbalances in the liver .

  1. Grooved or deformed nails: a sign that should not be ignored

White horizontal streaks  , curved or rounded nails like an upside-down glass? These abnormalities may   indicate an overworked liver  that’s struggling to perform its vital functions.

  1. Burning sensation at the end of the day

Uncomfortably hot feet, especially at night when resting? This could   be a sign of peripheral nerve damage  , which is sometimes associated with liver problems.   This is called peripheral neuropathy.

  1. Dry skin and cracked heels

Rough skin,   cracked heels  , persistent dryness? These signs may   indicate incomplete elimination of toxins by the liver  , which affects the quality of the skin, including the feet.

  1. Yellowing of the feet or nails

A   slight yellowing   of the soles of the feet or nails may   indicate a buildup of bile pigments  . This often occurs when   the liver is no longer able to excrete them properly  .

  1. Visible veins on the top of the feet

Bulging veins, especially on the back of the foot? This may   indicate excessive pressure in the blood vessels  , sometimes associated with portal hypertension   , a consequence of liver disease.

Our feet speak to us… it is up to us to listen to them.

They are sometimes the first signs of a deeper imbalance.   Liver dysfunction doesn’t always manifest itself as abdominal pain or nausea; it can also be felt in the extremities. Paying attention to these signs can help   identify certain health problems earlier.
